Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your office located?

Small Things Often is located on the second floor of a yellow brick house on the corner of North Market and East Vincent Street. Here is the address:

232 North Market Street
Ligonier, PA 15658

I recommend that you come in through the back entrance. You’ll find the stairway upstairs through the small waiting area from that door.

The front door is locked after 4:30 pm.

Where do I park?
There is free parking on East Vincent Street or a parking lot behind the house that you are welcome to use.
What are your hours?

Sessions are available by appointment only.

My in-person days are on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I don’t offer evening times, but I otherwise make myself as flexible as possible during the day.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50-55 minutes if you are using insurance.

Self-pay clients can request longer appointments, but please discuss this with me to make arrangements.

How do I pay?
I prefer check or cash but can accept credit/debit cards through the client portal. If using telehealth, you’ll enter your card information before your first appointment.
Do you accept insurance?

I accept most insurance plans, but it’s your responsibility to ensure that your insurance covers services with me.

If I am out-of-network with your provider, you’ll pay for sessions personally. I’ll provide you a “Superbill” that you can submit to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement.

Can you help me with my insurance benefits?

We will verify your coverage, but YOU are responsible for knowing your health insurance coverage for services.

First, contact your insurance carrier and ask about your mental health benefits. Then, check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • How many therapy sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
How do I schedule an appointment?

For the quickest response, please email me at faith@smallthingsoften.com.

For the second quickest response, fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page.

Or, you can call me at (724) 259-7678. I’ll return your call within 48 hours (no calls returned on weekends).

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Cancellations and rescheduled sessions will be subject to a $50 charge if NOT RECEIVED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE.

If you don’t show up for an appointment, all previously scheduled sessions will be canceled and you will be charged a $50 fee. This fee must be paid before you can reschedule future appointments.

If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.

Do you offer telehealth appointments?

I offer telehealth sessions on Tuesdays only.

You’ll get the most out of online therapy if you have a private, quiet space for our meeting.

What ages do you work with?

I work with clients aged 15 and up.

Do you have any specialized training?

I’m trained in the Gottman Method (completed Levels 1 and 2) for couples work. I’m also a Leader with “The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work” and an Educator for “Bringing Baby Home.”

I am a Certified Grief Counselor if you’re struggling with grief or loss.

For postpartum issues, I’ve completed a 12-hour post-graduate training in postpartum depression with the Postpartum Stress Center.

I also have specialized training in yoga and nature therapy. I’m a Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide and working toward being a Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide through the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT).

Will I have things to do between sessions?

I’ll give you prompts for self-inquiry to help you work toward your goals between sessions. Making time for this contemplation will help you get the most out of therapy.

Outside work for couples centers on building their friendship and practicing communication skills learned in session.

What should I expect at our first meeting?

Our first meeting is an opportunity to get to know each other and ensure we’re a good fit.

We’ll probably explore your family dynamics during this session and start to talk about your treatment goals.

What is something I will notice about your office?
You may notice excessive hedgehog décor in my office when you come in. The second runner-up is birds!
What is your favorite way to relax?
I feel most relaxed spending time outdoors doing various forms of recreation, from paddle boarding to backpacking.
